SESSIONS IN NORWELL
What we can create together in Norwell.
Norwell is one of the quieter gems on the South Shore for portrait photography. Unlike the more well-known beach towns, Norwell offers dense woodland, pond reflections, and river scenery that create portraits with a distinctly natural, timeless quality. I photograph here year-round — the light through the trees in summer is soft and flattering, and the fall color is among the best I see anywhere.
Norwell Town Forest is my first recommendation for anyone who wants portraits that feel intimate and grounded. The trail system gives us multiple compositions within a single session — open meadow clearings, dense pine canopy, and mossy stone walls that add real texture to a portrait. It's a particular favorite for senior portraits and branding sessions.
Jacobs Pond is a peaceful freshwater location where the still water surface creates reflections that add an almost painterly quality to portraits — especially in early morning or late afternoon light. The Herring Run along the North River is unlike anything else nearby: moving water, river grasses, and a landscape that reads as completely wild even though it's minutes from the town center. Wompatuck State Park, which borders Norwell and Hingham, offers massive old-growth canopy and miles of carriage roads that are gorgeous for walking portraits in every season.
I photograph all services in Norwell: headshots, senior portraits, branding photography, family portraits, maternity sessions, birthday photoshoots, and event coverage.
STUDIO OR ON-LOCATION
My studio is 10 minutes away — or I'll come to you.
My studio at 83 E Water Street in Rockland is one of the closest studios to Norwell on the South Shore — about a 10-minute drive. Studio sessions offer controlled natural window light and backdrop options that are ideal for headshots, executive portraits, and maternity sessions where a polished, consistent look matters most.
For most Norwell clients, though, the town's own natural settings are the draw. We can start with a studio session for clean headshots and then head out to Norwell Town Forest or Jacobs Pond for something more personal — two completely different looks from one booking.

What locations do you recommend in Norwell?
Norwell Town Forest offers dense woodland trails with beautiful filtered light — ideal for portraits that have a natural, intimate feel. Jacobs Pond is a peaceful freshwater spot with reflections that add real depth to a portrait. The Herring Run along the North River gives you moving water and a riparian landscape unlike anything else nearby. Wompatuck State Park, which borders Norwell and Hingham, adds massive old-growth canopy and is one of my go-to spots for fall color sessions.
How much does a portrait session in Norwell cost?
On-location portrait sessions start at $495. That includes a pre-session consultation, a 30-minute shoot at your chosen Norwell location, and 3 fully retouched images delivered within 2 weeks. Custom quotes are available for family sessions, senior portrait packages, and branding projects.
Can you photograph at Norwell Town Forest in any season?
Yes — Norwell Town Forest is accessible year-round and each season looks completely different. Summer brings soft filtered canopy light that is flattering for portraits. Fall color peaks in mid-to-late October and is among the best I see anywhere on the South Shore. Winter sessions in light snow produce quiet, striking images and the forest is rarely crowded. Spring brings wildflowers and bright new growth. I check trail conditions in early spring when mud can be a factor, and I always have alternative Norwell locations ready as a backup.
