Sand Hills Beach sits tucked between Scituate Harbor and Cedar Point — a wider, more open stretch of coastline than most of Scituate's other spots. Low dunes, pale marsh grass, and a long arc of sand give the whole location a quiet, unhurried quality that tends to come through in portraits. It doesn't have the dramatic rock formations of Third Cliff or the iconic landmark presence of the Lighthouse, but what it does have is space — and space is one of the most underrated things in portrait photography.
The space is the defining feature here. Sand Hills gives you long horizons and room for walking shots, movement, and portrait compositions that feel airy rather than compressed. Families can spread out naturally without feeling stacked on top of each other. Seniors can walk toward the water and still have background to work with at a distance.
