Scituate Harbor and the Lighthouse are the signature Scituate images — the working harbor with lobster boats, the historic lighthouse on its rocky headland, and the classic New England village character of the waterfront. For family portraits, the lighthouse area works especially well for children who love the rocky shore and tidal pools, and for families who want an image that's unmistakably Scituate.
Sand Hills Beach is a wide, sandy family beach that's easier to navigate with young children than the rocky lighthouse area. The open beach gives kids room to run, and the gentle surf and clean horizon make for beautiful family portraits in any season. Golden hour here is excellent.
Third Cliff offers a completely different look — a narrow barrier spit between the sea and the South River with views in both directions and excellent isolation. This is a more photogenic and less crowded option than Sand Hills for families who want something a little more dramatic.
