Where we shoot in Kingston.

Gray's Beach (Kingston Bay Beach) is a sheltered bay beach with calm, shallow water and long views across to Duxbury. It has a quieter, more intimate character than the open ocean beaches — less wind, fewer crowds, and a quality of light in late afternoon that is genuinely beautiful. Good for seniors who want a coastal feel without the busyness of Nantasket or Duxbury Beach.

Silver Lake is Kingston's freshwater lake — wooded shoreline, open water, and a completely different aesthetic from the coastal settings. Ideal for seniors who want a natural, woodland-adjacent backdrop rather than salt water and sand.

Jones River runs through the center of Kingston and has historical character and wooded river corridor that photographs especially well in fall. The soft, filtered light under the tree canopy in October is exceptional. A good option for seniors who want something personal and less conventional than a beach session.

My studio at 83 E Water Street in Rockland is about 25 minutes from Kingston via Route 3. On-location sessions are available at any of the spots listed here, or at a location that is meaningful to you. Most Kingston seniors choose 1–2 outdoor locations with the option to add a studio component.

I plan every session around the available light, the tide if applicable, and what is going to produce the best images for where you want to use them.

When is the best time of year for senior portraits in Kingston?

Late summer and early fall (August through October) are ideal. The light is warm and directional, Gray's Beach is at its quietest after Labor Day, and the marshes along Jones River turn gold in September. Spring (May) is also excellent.
