Wollaston Beach on Quincy Shore is the most popular outdoor family portrait location in the city. The wide sandy beach, Quincy Bay views, and the Boston skyline in the distance give Quincy family portraits a distinctive quality — a little more urban and coastal than beaches further south, and recognizably South Shore. Evening sessions in August and September, when the light turns golden over the water, are especially beautiful.
Merrymount Park is one of the most underutilized portrait locations in the area. Forested trails, open meadows, and a quiet atmosphere make it feel far removed from Quincy's urban character. Families who want a natural, unhurried session away from the beach often find Merrymount gives them images that feel more intimate and personal. The canopy light in late spring and early fall is excellent.
Blue Hills Reservation on the Quincy-Milton line offers a completely different scale — rocky granite ridges, forested hillsides, and elevated views that produce family portraits with a genuinely dramatic backdrop. This is not a typical family portrait location, which is exactly what makes it memorable. Best in fall for foliage.
