MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY IN HULL, MA
Maternity Photographer in Hull, MA
Hull is a narrow peninsula with the open Atlantic on one side and Boston Harbor on the other — Nantasket Beach, Pemberton Point, and Fort Revere give maternity portraits a backdrop no other South Shore town can match.

LOCATIONS IN HULL
Maternity photography locations in Hull.
Nantasket Beach is the classic Hull maternity setting — three miles of open Atlantic shoreline with soft sand, a wide sky, and enough length that we can always find an empty stretch if we book early morning or the last hour of light. The onshore breeze here is the reason to bring a flowing gown; it does most of the work for you. Summer weekends are busy along the main strip, so we shoot toward the quieter southern end.
Pemberton Point is the one clients ask for by name. At the northern tip of the peninsula, looking across Hull Gut and Boston Harbor, the Boston skyline sits on the horizon behind you — a backdrop genuinely unavailable anywhere else on the South Shore. Best in the final hour before sunset, when the city catches warm light and the harbor water settles. Bring a layer; the point is exposed and it is always cooler out there than in the village.
Fort Revere Park and Hull Village give you elevation and history. Fort Revere sits on the highest ground in Hull with a panoramic view over the harbor, the islands, and the open ocean, and the stone fortifications add texture that pure beach locations do not have. Hull Village below it is sheltered, with narrow streets and weathered shingle houses — the right call on a day when the wind at Nantasket is too much to work in.
Straits Pond and the bay side are the calm-water alternative. When the ocean side is rough, the bay side of the peninsula stays glassy, and the reflections there suit a softer, quieter maternity look. The studio in Rockland is about 30 minutes from Hull via Route 228 and Hull Shore Drive, and is the right complement for January sessions or for clean-background gown portraits added to an outdoor booking.
ABOUT THE SESSIONS
Maternity photography sessions in Hull — beach, harbor, or studio.
The ideal booking window for maternity portraits is 28–34 weeks — the bump is at its best and you’re still comfortable enough to enjoy an outdoor session. I’ve photographed maternity sessions throughout the South Shore for over 12 years, including many along Nantasket Beach and out at Pemberton Point.
Partners and older children are welcome in any session. We structure the time so we capture solo portraits first, then bring family into the frame for the group images.

FAQ
Maternity photography in Hull — your questions answered.
Where are the best maternity photo locations in Hull, MA?
Nantasket Beach is the classic choice — a long open Atlantic shoreline with room to work well away from the crowd if we shoot early or late. Pemberton Point at the tip of the peninsula is the distinctive one: the Boston skyline sits across the water behind you, which no other South Shore town offers. Fort Revere Park gives you elevation and a 360-degree view, and Straits Pond on the bay side is the calm-water alternative when the ocean is too windy.
Is Hull too windy for a maternity session?
Hull is a narrow peninsula with water on both sides, so wind is a real planning factor rather than an afterthought. It is usually an advantage — a flowing gown moves beautifully in a steady onshore breeze. When the forecast is genuinely rough, we move to the bay side at Straits Pond or into the lee at Hull Village, both of which stay sheltered when Nantasket is blowing. I check the marine forecast the day before every Hull session.
Can we get the Boston skyline in our maternity photos?
Yes — Pemberton Point is the spot. Looking northwest across Hull Gut and Boston Harbor, the city skyline sits on the horizon behind you. It works best in the last hour before sunset, when the buildings catch warm light and the water goes still. This is the single most requested Hull location and it is genuinely unique on the South Shore.
How much does a maternity session in Hull cost?
Maternity sessions start at $395. That covers a pre-session consultation, the session at your chosen Hull location, and a fully retouched online gallery delivered within two weeks. Hull is about 30 minutes from my Rockland studio via Route 228 and Hull Shore Drive; summer parking along Nantasket is metered and fills early, so I build the timing and parking plan into the booking. WHEN TO BOOK
Timing your Hull maternity session.
28 to 34 weeks is the photogenic window for maternity portraits — the bump is fully defined but you are still comfortable enough to walk a stretch of Nantasket or out to the end of Pemberton Point. Earlier than 28 weeks the bump often does not read as a maternity portrait once you are dressed; later than 34 weeks the comfort window narrows and weather contingencies get harder to manage. I will often book at the 24-week consultation so we keep flexibility on the actual date.
Hull runs on a coastal calendar, and wind matters more here than anywhere else I shoot. Late May through June and again from early September into October are the best stretches — warm enough to be comfortable in a gown, past the peak-summer beach crowds, and with the steady evening breeze that makes fabric move without becoming a fight. July and August still work if we book the first slot of the morning, before the Nantasket lots fill. From November through March the peninsula is genuinely exposed, and the Rockland studio is the better call.
Book 6 to 8 weeks ahead for a spring or fall weekend. Sunset slots at Pemberton Point are the first to go, and there are only so many of them in a season — if the Boston skyline shot is the one you want, book it early. Midweek availability is broader throughout the year.
WHAT TO WEAR
What to wear for a Hull maternity session.
Two outfits gives us enough variety without rushing. For Hull specifically, make one of them a long flowing gown — the peninsula almost always has a steady breeze, and fabric that catches wind is the difference between a nice photo and a striking one. Chiffon, georgette, and soft jersey all move well. The second look is usually relaxed: a fitted maternity top with denim or a soft knit, which reads more like a candid lifestyle moment.
The palette here is blue, grey, and sand, so warm tones separate you from the background rather than blending into it. Rust, terracotta, mustard, cream, and dusty rose all photograph beautifully against open ocean and harbor water. Deep jewel tones — burgundy, emerald, navy — hold up well at Pemberton Point against the skyline at dusk. Avoid pale blues and greys, which disappear into sea and sky, and skip tight horizontal patterns and visible logos.
Practical notes that are specific to Hull: bring a wrap or layer even in summer, because the point and the beach both run 5 to 10 degrees cooler than inland once the sun drops. Flat shoes or bare feet for the sand — heels are unusable on Nantasket. And plan hair with the wind in mind rather than against it; a loose style that moves photographs far better here than something set to stay put. We can walk through the full wardrobe plan at the pre-session consultation.
